New generation service

Rotary Club Cochin Global is a not-for-profit corporation that promotes world understanding through international humanitarian service programs and educational and cultural exchanges. Our Club gives great emphasis on Community Service and Club Service. Our members are business leaders and professionals that provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

Objectives

The main objective of Rotary Club of Cochin Global is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as global worming, children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development. The Rotary motto is Service Above Self.

ON the Rotary avenue of Service: It will be quite meaningful to understand the different avenues of service in Rotary within the context of the “objects of Rotary”. The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis for worthy enterprise and in particular to encourage and foster :

1. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.
2. High ethical standars in business and professions and using occupation as an opportunity for service.
3. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business and community life.
4. Advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through the Rotary ideal of service.
5. Further on, it is Rotary’s mission that each Rotarian prepare the new generation - all young people up to the age of 30 - by improving their skills and competence to ensure that they go through life successfully.

Responsibilities

The responsibility for each of the avenues is assigned to a DIRECTOR. It is of great importance that each Director should be aware of the responsibilities involved in implementing programmes along these five avenues in a balanced manner. Each of these avenues may be divided into subdivisions by forming committees with designated responsibilities - depending on the size of the club membership and the volume of work involved.
